My Portion

Grace Enough

"The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him."
LAMENTATIONS 3:24 · ESV

"The LORD is my portion," says my soul. Portion is an odd word to build a life on — it's the word for what's actually yours, the share that's been measured out to you. Most people spend their lives chasing a bigger share of something else: money, approval, control over how things turn out.

This verse comes from a book of grief. The writer isn't in a good season when he says this — he's surrounded by loss, and still he lands here: God himself is what's actually his. Not an escape from the hard year, but something solid underneath it.

You don't have to have that kind of certainty today. But it's worth asking what you're actually counting on to hold you up — and whether it's a portion big enough for the years ahead.

If you've ever wondered what's actually solid enough to build a life on, that's a question worth sitting with honestly.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
