For your steadfast love is great to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.
Try to measure this: love as high as the heavens, faithfulness reaching the clouds. It's the kind of image that resists being pinned down to something manageable — not a love you could map the edges of, not a faithfulness you could exhaust by testing it too many times.
That scale matters if the faithfulness you've experienced from other people has had clear limits — a point where their patience ran out, where their love turned conditional, where you learned exactly how far you could push before it broke. This verse isn't describing a slightly more patient version of that. It's describing something that operates on a completely different scale, one that doesn't have the edges human loyalty usually has.
You don't have to take that claim on faith blindly. You can hold it loosely, as a genuinely different kind of promise than the ones you've tested and found limited — and let it earn your trust slowly, the way anything real would have to.
If every loyalty you've known had an edge you eventually found, it might be worth exploring a love this verse claims doesn't have one.
