Discovering Jesus Together
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Honest questions, honest answers

Everything you might wonder before you begin. Don't see your question? Just ask us — we'd love to hear from you.

Is this really free?
Yes — completely free, with no catch and no payment ever requested. Every lesson, every conversation, and your personal mentor are a gift. We're a ministry, not a business.
Do I have to join a church?
Not at all. You're welcome to study simply because you're curious, with zero obligation. If you ever want a next step like baptism or a church family, we'll help — but only if and when you choose.
What is a "mentor"?
A mentor is a friendly, trained volunteer who studies alongside you — answering questions, praying with you if you'd like, and going at your pace. A caring guide and friend, not a teacher grading you.
How long does it take?
It's entirely up to you. Some finish a lesson a week; others take months. There's no clock and no deadline — you set the pace and can pause anytime.
I'm not religious, and I've never read the Bible. Is that okay?
More than okay — it's exactly who this is for. You don't need any background or "right words." We start at the very beginning and explain everything in plain language.
What Bible translation do you use?
We use clear, trustworthy modern translations that are easy to read, and you're always welcome to use whatever version you already have.
Can I study in Spanish or Portuguese?
Yes! We offer studies in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, so you can learn in the language closest to your heart.
What is baptism — and do I have to be baptized?
Baptism is a joyful way of saying "I'm following Jesus" — going under the water and rising to a new life. It's never required to study with us, and there's no pressure; it's a step you'd take only when you're ready.
What is the seventh-day Sabbath?
The Sabbath is a weekly day of rest and connection with God that the Bible places on the seventh day (Saturday). We treasure it as a gift built into Creation — and we'll explore it together when you're ready.
Who are Seventh-day Adventists?
We're a worldwide Christian family — more than 23 million people in over 200 countries — who love Jesus, take the Bible seriously, and look forward to His return. We're known for caring about whole-person health, education, and serving people in need.
Will someone pressure me?
Never. Your mentor is there to support and encourage you, not to push. You're always free to ask hard questions, disagree, slow down, or stop.
Can I do this if I live far away or in another country?
Absolutely. The whole study can happen online, wherever you are in the world. Many of our students study from another city, country, or continent.
What if I have doubts or hard questions?
Bring them — all of them. Doubts aren't a problem; they're part of an honest faith, and the Bible can handle every one. Your mentor would rather wrestle through a hard question with you than have you pretend.
Do I have to believe everything before I start?
No. Just bring an open mind and a willingness to explore. Faith grows step by step, and you're free to weigh each thing for yourself as you go.
How is my information used?
Your privacy matters. We use your contact details only to connect you with your mentor and your lessons — never to sell, share, or spam you. You can ask us to remove your information anytime.
What happens after I finish the lessons?
That's up to you. Some finish with a richer understanding of the Bible; others want to keep growing, meet a local church family, or prepare for baptism. Whatever you choose, we'll celebrate with you.

Still have a question?

Ask a real person — no pressure, no cost. We answer every message.
