Discovering Jesus Together
DAILY VERSE · Day 281

Satisfied at Dawn

Sufficient Grace

Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
PSALM 90:14 · ESV

There's a specific ask buried in this verse — satisfy us. Not "give us enough to get by," but satisfy, the kind of full that stops the searching. Most of us are more familiar with the other version of morning: waking up already behind, already scanning for what's missing.

What's notable is the request isn't for the day's problems to be removed first. It's for something to fill the heart before the day even starts proving itself one way or the other. "That we may rejoice and be glad all our days" isn't conditioned on the day going well — the joy is supposed to come from what's already been given, not from what the day still has to earn.

If you've never known a morning that started full rather than scrambling to become full, it's fair to wonder whether that's just poetic language, or whether it describes something you could actually experience.

It's worth asking someone who claims to know this kind of morning whether it's really available to you too.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
