Peace That Rules

Life in Christ

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
COLOSSIANS 3:15 · ESV

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts." Rule is a strong word — not a suggestion, not a mood that shows up when things are going well. It's asking a lot of a heart, especially one that's used to being ruled by worry, or by whatever crisis is loudest that day.

Maybe you've never experienced peace as something that governs — only as something that visits occasionally, briefly, before life crowds back in. This verse describes something else: a peace with enough authority to hold the center, even while everything around it is unsettled.

You don't have to pretend that kind of peace makes sense to you yet. You just have to be willing to ask whether it's real, and whether it's available to someone whose heart currently feels ruled by something else entirely.

If the idea of a peace that actually governs sounds too good to be real, that's worth sitting with honestly rather than dismissing.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
