Good to All

Grace Enough

The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.
PSALM 145:9 · ESV

"Good to all" is a bigger claim than it first sounds. Not good to the people who've earned it, not good to those who show up and perform faith correctly — all. The verse doesn't carve out exceptions for the skeptical, the distracted, or the people who've never once prayed.

Then it goes further: his mercy is over all that he has made. That includes you specifically, by simple fact of existing, not by any track record. It's easy to assume divine goodness is reserved for people who've already sorted out what they believe. This verse doesn't say that. It describes something closer to weather than to a reward — covering everything, without checking credentials first.

You can test a claim like this against your own life. Has there been evidence of unearned goodness in it — things that went better than you had any right to expect?

If you've ever wondered whether goodness like that could really include someone who hasn't figured out what they believe, that's a fair question worth chasing.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
