Bread of Life

Living Bread

Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst."
JOHN 6:35 · ESV

Bread doesn't ask much of you. It's the plainest food there is — the thing people eat when nothing fancier is available, when they just need to not be hungry anymore. That's exactly the word Jesus reaches for to describe himself, and it's worth sitting with why.

He isn't offering something exotic reserved for people who've already figured out the spiritual life. He's offering something as basic and necessary as the food that keeps you alive day to day. "Whoever comes" — not whoever has earned it, not whoever qualifies. Just whoever shows up hungry.

If your picture of faith has always involved distant, complicated rules you'd have to master first, this verse is aiming somewhere much simpler. It's asking whether you're hungry — and whether you're willing to come find out if the claim is true.

If faith has always felt like something you'd have to earn your way into, this claim about bread might be worth reconsidering.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
