For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
Fear has a way of narrating your whole life if you let it — telling you what you can't do, can't say, can't risk. This verse names that voice directly and says: that's not where you came from.
What's striking is what it offers instead. Not bravado, not a promise that things will be easy — just three specific things: power, love, and a clear mind. That's a strange combination if you think about it. Power without love turns into control. Love without a level head turns into chaos. Together, they sound like something closer to steadiness than heroism.
You don't have to already know where that kind of spirit comes from to notice how different it sounds from the fear that usually runs the show. It's worth asking what it would actually feel like to operate from that place instead.
If fear has been doing most of the talking in your life lately, it might be worth hearing what a steadier voice sounds like.
A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
