Discovering Jesus Together
DAILY VERSE · Day 67

East from West

The Freedom of Forgiveness

As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
PSALM 103:12 · ESV

East and west never meet. Head north long enough and eventually you're heading south — but travel east forever and you never arrive at west. It's not a distance you can measure, it's a direction that never closes the loop. That's the image this verse picks for what happens to your worst moments in God's hands: not filed away nearby, not tucked in a drawer you might stumble on later. Gone in a direction with no return trip.

If you carry around a version of yourself made mostly of what you've done wrong, this is aimed at you specifically. It's not a claim that the wrong didn't happen. It's a claim about where it ends up once it's actually dealt with.

You don't have to believe this today to let it sit with you for a minute: what would change if the thing you're most ashamed of wasn't actually still sitting there, waiting to be found?

If you've wondered whether your past actually disqualifies you from something better, that question deserves an honest answer.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
