Discovering Jesus Together
DAILY VERSE · Day 313

Satisfied at Dawn

Walking with God

Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
PSALM 90:14 · ESV

Think about what most of us reach for first thing in the morning — the phone, the coffee, the news, something to distract from the fact that another day just started and we're not sure we're ready for it. This verse names a different first move: "satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love."

It's a request, not a claim already fulfilled. Whoever wrote this wasn't already satisfied — they were asking to be. That's an honest place to start, and maybe closer to where you actually are than any confident declaration of faith would be.

What's striking is what's supposed to follow: rejoicing and gladness, not just for a good morning, but for "all our days." That's a big claim resting on a small request. It suggests satisfaction doesn't come from getting the day to go right — it comes from something offered before the day has even proven itself.

If your mornings usually start with dread instead of hope, it might be worth finding out what it looks like to ask Jesus for something different.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
