Light for the Path

Rooted in Him

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
PSALM 119:105 · ESV

Notice what this verse doesn't promise: a floodlight illuminating the whole road ahead, every turn mapped out in advance. It's a lamp for your feet — enough light to see where to put your foot down next. That's a much smaller claim, and honestly a much more useful one.

Most of us want the five-year plan, the whole map, certainty about how things turn out. This verse describes something humbler: just enough light for the next step. Which means walking with it requires actually moving, not standing still waiting for the whole path to light up at once.

If you've been stuck waiting for total clarity before you'll take any step at all, this verse suggests a different way of moving through uncertainty — one step of light at a time, trusting there'll be more when you get there.

If you've been waiting for the whole picture before moving at all, this verse is an invitation to take just the next visible step.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
