Discovering Jesus Together
DAILY VERSE · Day 216

Come to Me

Bread of Life

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
MATTHEW 11:28 · ESV

Notice who's invited here: not the people with it together, not the ones who've already sorted out what they believe. Jesus names the condition plainly — those who labor and are heavy laden. Tired people. Overloaded people. That's the entire qualification.

It's worth pausing on how low the bar is. He doesn't say come once you've fixed what's wrong, or once your doubts are resolved, or once you've cleaned yourself up first. He says come as you are, carrying whatever you're carrying right now, and I'll give you rest.

Rest here isn't described as a reward for finishing something. It's offered before any of that. If you've been operating like exhaustion is just the cost of being a functioning adult, this verse is quietly disagreeing with that assumption.

If exhaustion has started to feel normal, it might be worth finding out what this invitation is actually offering.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
