He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
"For his name's sake" is an odd phrase to build a promise of guidance on. It would make more sense if it said God leads you because of your potential, or your effort, or how much you deserve it. Instead, the reason given has nothing to do with the person being led at all — it's about God's own character being consistent.
That's actually a relief if you look at it closely. It means the guidance isn't contingent on you having your motives sorted out or your questions resolved. You could be genuinely unsure what you believe and still be someone this verse is talking about, because the leading was never staked on your certainty.
Right paths aren't the same as easy ones, either — this doesn't promise a smooth road, just a real one, going somewhere honest.
If you've been waiting to feel more certain before you take this seriously, it may be worth noticing this promise doesn't ask for that.
A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
