Discovering Jesus Together
DAILY VERSE · Day 207

Satisfied at Dawn

Unfailing Love

Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
PSALM 90:14 · ESV

Notice the timing in this verse: satisfy us in the morning. Not eventually, not once we've earned it, not after we've proven we can handle the day — first thing, before anything else has happened. The psalmist is asking for something at the very start, when the day is still blank and anything could go wrong in it.

That's a strange thing to ask for if you think you have to build your own stability before God gets involved. But the request assumes the opposite order: the steadying comes first, and the rejoicing follows from it, not the other way around. You don't get glad first and then deserve to be satisfied.

If your mornings tend to start heavy — with dread, or just flatness — this verse doesn't tell you to fix that yourself before you're allowed to ask for something better.

If your mornings feel like something to survive rather than receive, it might be worth exploring what this psalm is actually offering.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
