Faith Working Through Love

Faith That Works

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
GALATIANS 5:6 · ESV

Paul is cutting through a debate that consumed the early church — circumcision, kosher rules, who's technically "in" and who's out — and basically saying: none of that is the point. The whole scaffolding of religious credentials, he says, counts for nothing.

That might be a relief if you've ever felt like faith requires a checklist you don't know how to complete — the right words, the right rituals, the right résumé of belief. Paul says the only thing that actually counts is much simpler and much harder: faith that shows up as love, doing something in the world.

You don't need the credentials to start. You don't need to have the theology sorted out or the right religious background. What this verse points to isn't a gate you have to unlock — it's a direction. Does what you believe move you toward other people, or just toward being right?

If the checklist version of religion has kept you at a distance, it might help to hear how differently Jesus described what actually matters.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
