A Lamp to My Feet

Firm Foundations

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
PSALM 119:105 · ESV

A lamp doesn't light up the whole horizon. It lights the patch of ground right in front of you — just enough to take the next step without tripping. That's a smaller promise than most people expect from faith, and maybe a more honest one.

This verse isn't offering a map of your entire life, five years out, fully explained. It's offering something more modest: enough light for the step you're on right now. If you're someone who wants the whole plan before you'll move, that might feel unsatisfying. But most real walking happens exactly like this — one visible step, then the next one becomes visible after you've taken it.

You don't need the whole road lit to start. You just need enough to see where you're standing and where to put your foot next.

If you've been waiting for the whole plan before taking a single step toward God, it might be worth trying with just the light you have right now.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
