For Such a Time

Courage to Obey

And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
ESTHER 4:14 · ESV

Esther didn't ask to become queen of a foreign empire. She didn't sign up to be the one person positioned to save her people from destruction. She was placed there through a chain of events entirely outside her control — and then, at the crucial moment, someone asked her the question this verse is remembered for: who knows if you didn't arrive here for exactly this?

It's worth noticing that the question isn't a certainty. It's phrased as "who knows" — an honest admission that we rarely get a clear memo about why our lives have taken the shape they have. Esther had to decide to act without proof, based on a possibility she couldn't verify in advance.

Maybe you've wondered, in quieter moments, whether the strange particulars of your own life — your job, your city, your connections, your timing — actually add up to something, or whether it's all just coincidence. This verse doesn't answer that for you. It just suggests the question is worth asking seriously.

If you've ever wondered whether your own particular life adds up to something on purpose, that's a question worth exploring further.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
