Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.
Most of us split our lives into categories — the meaningful parts and the parts we just get through. Sacred things over here, the spreadsheet or the dishes or the inbox over there. This verse quietly erases that line. Whatever you do, it says, work at it as for the Lord, not for people. Suddenly there's no small work left.
That's a relief if you've ever felt like your actual life — the unglamorous job, the errands, the tasks nobody applauds — doesn't count for much next to the "important" spiritual stuff. This verse says the opposite. The way you do the ordinary task is itself the meaningful thing. Nothing is being wasted.
You don't have to switch careers or find a more "spiritual" job for your work to matter. You just have to ask a different question about the work you already have — not "is this significant enough," but "who am I actually doing this for."
If you've quietly assumed your everyday work doesn't matter to God, that assumption is worth questioning.
