Discovering Jesus Together
DAILY VERSE · Day 115

The True Source

Wisdom for the Way

For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
PROVERBS 2:6 · ESV

We tend to treat knowledge like something we mine ourselves — read enough, study enough, live long enough, and eventually you'll understand. This verse suggests a different source entirely: that real understanding comes from somewhere outside you, offered rather than extracted.

That's worth sitting with if you've ever hit the limits of your own figuring-things-out. Maybe you've made every reasonable decision with the information you had and still ended up lost. Maybe you've watched genuinely smart people make devastating choices. Intelligence and wisdom aren't the same thing, and this verse is pointing at the gap between them — the part that can't just be studied into existence.

You don't have to abandon your own thinking to consider this. It's simply an invitation to wonder whether some of the clarity you're looking for isn't something you generate, but something you receive.

If your own figuring-things-out has hit a wall, it might be worth asking a source outside yourself for what you actually need.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
