We love because he first loved us.
This is a short verse, almost a footnote, but it quietly rearranges everything. We love because he first loved us. Not: we love, and hope that earns His love back. The order runs the other direction entirely.
That matters if you've ever tried to fake your way into caring about something spiritual — gritting your teeth, hoping the feeling shows up eventually. This verse suggests that's backwards. Love, in this story, isn't the entrance fee. It's the response to something that already happened first, whether you noticed it or not.
You don't have to manufacture belief before anything real can start. You're allowed to just ask honestly whether something loved you first — and let whatever you feel about that be the beginning, not the finish line.
If you've been waiting to feel ready before you look into this, it might help to know the order was never supposed to work that way.
A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
