Nothing Can Separate

The Father's Love

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
ROMANS 8:38-39 · ESV

Paul makes a list here, and lists like this are usually written by someone trying to close every exit. Death, life, angels, rulers, the present, the future, powers, height, depth, anything else in all creation. He's not being poetic. He's trying to name every possible way this love could be lost, just to say none of them work.

If you've ever wondered whether there's a version of you too far gone, too messed up, too far outside the boundaries — this verse was written with exactly that fear in mind. It doesn't argue you into feeling better. It just states, flatly, that the list of things that could separate you from this love has been checked, and it comes up empty.

You don't have to take that on faith yet. You're allowed to just notice that it's a strange thing to say out loud — and wonder what kind of love would make someone confident enough to say it.

If part of you has been waiting to be too far gone for this to apply, that assumption might be worth questioning.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
