Discovering Jesus Together
DAILY VERSE · Day 30

Children of God

Who You Are in Christ

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
JOHN 1:12 · ESV

Families you're born into, you don't choose. But this verse describes a different kind of family — one you're invited into, not one you inherit by accident of birth. "The right to become children of God" is legal language, adoption language. It's describing someone being brought in on purpose, not tolerated as an afterthought.

Notice the condition attached: to all who received him, who believed in his name. Not to everyone automatically, not to people who already had it figured out — to anyone willing to receive and believe. That's a remarkably low bar for something this significant. No résumé required, no proof you'd earned a place at the table first.

If you've ever felt like you were on the outside of something — a family, a community, a story bigger than yourself — this verse is making a specific claim that the door isn't closed. It's worth finding out honestly whether that claim holds up.

If you've ever wondered whether there's a place for you in something bigger than yourself, this is worth looking into honestly.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
