God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Refuge is a specific kind of word. It's not comfort in general — it's the place you run to when something is actually chasing you. A storm cellar, not a cozy chair. This verse doesn't picture God as background scenery for a calm life; it pictures Him as the place you sprint toward when the calm life falls apart.
And it says "very present" — not eventually available, not reachable after enough effort, but present right in the middle of the trouble, not just after it. That's a specific claim about timing. Help that shows up during, not just help that shows up in hindsight.
Maybe your trouble right now doesn't feel dramatic enough to justify running anywhere. It doesn't have to be. The invitation here is open to anyone who needs somewhere to stand — and it's worth finding out honestly whether that refuge is real or just a nice idea.
If you've been looking for solid ground and haven't found it yet, this refuge is worth investigating honestly, not just admiring from a distance.
A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
