A Peace That Stays

Trust Over Worry

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
JOHN 14:27 · ESV

There's peace you can buy, borrow, or manufacture for a while — a good vacation, a stiff drink, a distraction loud enough to drown out the noise in your head. It works until it doesn't. It's rented, not owned, and it always comes due.

Jesus draws a hard line here: what He's offering isn't that kind of peace. Not the world's version, dependent on circumstances staying calm. His words come right before He heads toward His own execution — which means whatever peace He's talking about, it isn't the absence of hard things. It's something that holds while the hard thing is happening.

That's a bold claim, and it deserves an honest look rather than a quick yes or no. What would it take for you to actually test whether a peace like that exists — one that doesn't depend on your circumstances cooperating first?

If the peace you've tried so far has always run out, it might be worth finding out what Jesus meant by a peace the world can't give.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
