Bread from Heaven

Bread of Life

For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
JOHN 6:33 · ESV

"The bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." This was said to a crowd that had just been fed bread the day before — real, physical bread that filled real, physical stomachs. And they were back the next day, hungry again, looking for more of the same.

Jesus points somewhere else entirely. Not a food that satisfies for a few hours before the hunger returns, but something that answers a hunger underneath the physical one — the kind that shows up even when your stomach is full, the restlessness that a good meal, a promotion, or a new relationship never quite touches.

It's worth being honest about that deeper hunger rather than pretending it isn't there. Most of us have gotten good at feeding it with things that work for a while and then stop working. This verse names something different — bread that doesn't run out because it isn't the kind you consume and lose.

If you've noticed a hunger that nothing you've tried quite fills, it's worth finding out what Jesus meant when he called himself the bread of life.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
