Love That Never Ends

Unfailing Love

For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
PSALM 100:5 · ESV

"To all generations" is a strange thing to claim about anything. Most goodness we experience is local and temporary — a kind stranger, a lucky break, a season that eventually turns. This verse is claiming something that doesn't depend on the century, the culture, or the particular mess any given generation makes of things. The faithfulness described here has apparently outlasted every failure of every generation that's ever tried to test it.

That's either an exaggeration or the most stable thing anyone could ever stand on. And it's worth noticing this isn't a claim about how good people have been — it's a claim about how consistent God has been despite that.

You're one generation in a very long line of people who've wondered if this kind of goodness could really hold up. It's a fair question. But it's one worth actually investigating rather than assuming the answer.

If you've wondered whether any goodness could really be that consistent, that question deserves more than a guess.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
