Peace That Guards

Rooted in Christ

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
PHILIPPIANS 4:7 · ESV

Read this verse slowly and notice it doesn't say the peace of God will explain everything. It says the peace surpasses understanding — meaning it operates in a place your reasoning can't fully follow. That's an odd promise to make to people who like answers. Most of us want peace to come from finally figuring things out. This verse offers peace that arrives before the figuring-out is finished, maybe before it ever is.

There's something almost relieving in that, if you let it land. You don't have to solve your life to be steady inside it. The steadiness isn't a prize for winning the mental battle — it's something that guards you in the middle of it.

It's fair to be skeptical of a peace you can't fully explain. But it's also fair to ask whether the peace you've been chasing — the kind built entirely on having answers — has actually held up under pressure.

If the peace you've been chasing has always depended on having answers first, it might be worth considering a peace that doesn't wait for that.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
