Discovering Jesus Together
DAILY VERSE · Day 123

With All Your Might

Faith at Work

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might.
ECCLESIASTES 9:10 · ESV

There's no qualifier in this verse — no "whatever seems important" or "whatever will be noticed." It just says whatever your hand finds to do. The dishes. The email nobody will read closely. The unglamorous task that landed on you today, not the one you would have picked. Do it with your might.

That's a strange kind of freedom if you've been waiting for meaningful work to show up before you give something your full effort. This verse doesn't wait for meaningful. It says the effort itself is where meaning gets made, wherever your hand happens to land. Nothing has to be significant first for it to be worth doing well.

Most people are holding back a little, saving their real effort for the moment it'll finally matter. This verse suggests that moment is already here — in whatever ordinary task is actually in front of you right now.

If you've been holding back your real effort for a more important moment, today's ordinary task might be exactly where to stop waiting.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
