Hosanna in the Highest

The Road to the Cross

Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!
MATTHEW 21:9 · ESV

"Hosanna" isn't just a cheer — it means "save us." When the crowds shouted it at Jesus riding into Jerusalem, they were naming what they actually wanted: rescue. Not applause for a good teacher, but a plea from people who knew they needed saving from something.

It's easy to skip past a word like that without noticing it's a request, not just a compliment. These were people under occupation, under pressure, waiting for someone to actually change things. Whatever you're carrying — and everyone's carrying something — that same word fits: an honest cry instead of a polished one.

Most of that crowd didn't fully understand what kind of saving Jesus was there to do. That's fine company to be in. You don't need the full picture to recognize a need for rescue and say so out loud.

If there's something in your life you'd honestly call out for rescue from, that cry has always been welcome here.

A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
