When the days drew near for him to be taken up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem.
Jesus knew what was waiting in Jerusalem. Betrayal, a trial, a cross. And Luke tells us He set His face toward it anyway — not dragged there, not ambushed, but walking in on purpose.
That's worth pausing on if you've ever wondered whether the crucifixion was something that happened to Jesus or something He chose. This verse leans hard toward the second. Whatever was coming, He didn't flinch away from it or wait for someone to force His hand.
Maybe you're the kind of person who respects resolve more than sentiment — someone who wants to know if a claim has weight behind it, not just nice words. Here's a moment where the weight shows: a man walking directly toward the worst thing that could happen to him, for reasons he believed were bigger than his own safety.
If resolve like that catches your attention, it's worth asking what Jesus believed was worth walking toward it for.
A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
