But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.
If you've ever felt like you don't have the résumé for a spiritual life — not smart enough about it, not put-together enough, not the type — this verse is aimed directly at that feeling. It's not a footnote about God being nice to the underqualified. It's a claim that God deliberately picks the underqualified, on purpose, as a kind of statement.
Think about what that actually undoes. If the "wise" and the "strong" got there on their own merit, then this whole thing would be about earning a spot. But if God is choosing what the world calls foolish and weak, then merit was never the entry requirement to begin with.
You don't have to have your theology sorted, your habits fixed, or your doubts resolved to be someone this verse is talking about. If anything, feeling unqualified might put you closer to the point than feeling like you've got it all figured out.
If you've ever assumed you're not the type of person faith is for, that assumption is worth questioning rather than keeping.
A short video on this is coming soon — for now, read on.
